The brief for this project was to find a song that best represents a cause and use typography to bring it to life.
Using the song 7 O’clock News/Silent Night by Simon and Garfunkel from 1966. The song represents a juxtaposition between good and evil which I have evoked through a layered typography campaign using inspiration from anamorphic art installations and the overlaying of words in the song. The layers represent information that is often followed, and fed to members of society, causing them to overlook or lack interest in what is going on in the real world.
I created a vinyl record sleeve called 'All is calm' which represents being naive to serious matters going on in world, and instead getting wrapped up in narratives such as celebrity lifestyles.

The vinyl has a double sleeved cover with the first sleeve only portraying a simple ‘All is calm’ letters cut out to evoke the idea of members of society selectively choosing what news they digest.
The second sleeve portrays all the terrorist attacks that have happened in 2019. This information deemed 'less prominent' to a selection of members of society.

When viewing head on, only the top layer of the poster will be visible and inform the viewer of a trivial piece of information. It will seen as
a harmless poster until the viewer stands to the side and brutal information underneath it is revealed.
The letterbox slits in the top layer will line up with words on the second layer to evoke the fact that both work together in unison
but have a juxtaposition of good and bad to it - much like the song. All these events are happening at the same time.
